About the world:
The world is called Dentria. Everyone knows this, and everyone has always known this. Across every age, in every tongue, the name has never changed. No one questions why—it simply is.
Beneath the surface of life runs the Flow of the Universe—“the Flow,” as most call it. It is the unseen current that shapes storms, sparks fire, whispers to roots, and bends the fabric of being itself. Those who touch the Flow have gone by many names through history—arcanists, bards, druids, priests, alchemists, and more—but whatever the title, they are all people who found a way to bend the current of the universe to their will. Every spell, charm, and miracle traces back to this same source.
As for the gods? Well, none of them were born divine. Some were mortals who learned to bend the Flow so completely that age could not touch them. Others were heroes so favored by the Flow that they rose beyond mortality itself. With centuries to grow in power, they became figures of worship and fear. In truth, they are not gods in the cosmic sense—simply are people who grasped the Flow more deeply than anyone else.
This is Dentria: a world where the Flow is everywhere, the gods were once mortals, and history is written by those bold enough to seize its current.
Notes/disclaimers:
- Reminder, my intent is to use these stories as inspiration and blend them together to create the fledgling history and timeline of Dentria. I’ll be doing my best to maintain the spirit of any contributions and will very likely be checking in before I make large changes, but I suspect there will be some things that may not make it into the final timeline or will be modified by the time it all gets finalized. That being said, my current expectations are that changes will mainly be around creating a consistent style/tone for the recounting of the timeline. (In the interest of me being lazy and not feeling like doing more editing than is necessary, I suspect large swaths of contributions will be included unedited but no promises).
- My goal in making this is not financial, and I currently have no intent to try to monetize any part of this, unless it gets WAAAAY bigger than just a side project. Should there ever come a time where this is profitable, I'll happily treat contributors to lunch or something as a thanks for the early support.
- Lastly, fair warning that while I really want to open this up and give people a chance to express their creativity with a chance for things to be “immortalized” in my shitty ass attempt to make a ttrpg, this is also a passion project for me and there may exist contributions that I just don’t feel fit in the world I want to create. If you’re reading this, I’m assuming I EXPLICITLY approached you because I value and want your creative input. Please don’t take it personally or as an indication that I don’t support your ideas just because I don’t opt to include some contributions.
